GREAT NEWS! We have learned that GLOVES OFF! has been selected by the Center for Contemporary Opera and they will be presenting excerpts of GLOVES OFF! in NEW YORK CITY! Keep tuned for updates!
Opera is a very opulent performance art, and Gloves Off! is NO exception. Initially there were 20 solo singing parts, 12 chorus parts, 2 non singing children and 8 dancers, a whole symphony orchestra, sets, costumes, lighting, a stage manager stage hands and a multitude of others.
What will it take to bring GLOVES OFF! to full production? We don't really know...

We were fortunate to be able to complete an initial workshop Co-sponsored by Cowichan Theatre.

The Journey Continues...

About our Composer/Librettist Susan Hannah Rankin
We successfully completed a first series of workshops in November 2010. The spectators laughed and cried at all the right places!

Realizing that the cast was too large to expect to be able to produce it in real life, we reduced the roles. In some cases soloists with smaller parts will perform several smaller roles in different scenes. In this way we were able to reduce the number of soloists to nine.

We produced a small recording in Edmonton, Alberta Canada in November 2010. We hope to find a way to finance a Backers' Audition in the next few years. Click to listen to excerpts
